Manchester South and Manchester West Side Little League Announces Merger
and will now become Manchester Little League

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Manchester, New Hampshire – Manchester South and Manchester West Side Little League
are pleased to announce a merger that will now become one League under the new name
Manchester Little League effective immediately.

Little League Baseball has officially approved the merger of Manchester South and Manchester
West Side Little Leagues to create the new Manchester Little League. “The East Region
appreciates all the hard work that Manchester South Little League and Manchester West Side
Little League put in to accomplish this league merger. We fully expect the approval of this
merger to help aide in the continued success of Baseball and Softball in the Manchester
community” – Little League International East Region.

“This powerful combination of two storied and historic leagues is a positive move for the cause
of baseball and
youth sports in Manchester,” - Tim Pike, President of the newly formed league.
The merger will allow the new league to be stronger and better by combining the human and
capital resources of the two leagues. “It’s going to be a great partnership between these two city
leagues and the dedicated volunteers which will result in a positive environment for our kids to
play and to continue to promote little league baseball in the city and the spirit of what little league
is about” - Sally Dreckmann, New Hampshire District One Little League Administrator

The new league will also provide the families with an enhanced baseball experience, a dynamic
community, increased baseball expertise, a youth-sports “home” within the new league’s
borders and a safe, affordable and competitive environment that will align with Little League
Baseball’s core values of leadership, character, courage and loyalty in all that participate,
including the adult volunteers.

“This merger is an exciting time for Little League Baseball as it will bring families, volunteers,
coaches and kids together from two leagues to create the best possible experience for Little
League Baseball for our kids” – John Ryan – Immediate past President of West Side Little
League.

Manchester South and West Side is no stranger to turning out great athletes over time. South
was established in 1954 and featured the great Steve Balboni who played for the Yankees,
Royals and Mariners and Mike Flanagan who played for the Orioles and Blue Jays. “I am very
excited for this merger as Manchester has a storied history in Little League Baseball and it’s
fantastic that these two strong leagues have come together to continue the Little League
tradition in Manchester” - Kim Roy Immediate past President of South Little League.

The new Manchester Little League will, for the most part, cover the same area served by West
Side and South as in the past. Manchester Little League will be launching their new website
soon and will have up to date information on boundaries, registration, costs, volunteer
opportunities and more shortly.

“This is an exciting time for the children, families, volunteers and the great City of Manchester,
New Hampshire as these two historic leagues come together to keep the Little League tradition
alive in our city for years to come” - Erik Lesnia

Little League Binds Neighborhoods Together

For 75 years, Little League® has established a proud, rich history in the hearts and minds of
generations of Little Leaguers. Since its founding in 1939 by Carl Stotz, Little League has
nurtured the human spirit, and that is why it has been universally successful in cities and towns
throughout the world.

Little League Baseball, Incorporated is a non-profit organization with the mission to “promote,
develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will
participate in Little League Baseball and Softball.” Through proper guidance and exemplary
leadership, the Little League program assists youth in developing the qualities of citizenship,
discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage
and loyalty, the Little League Baseball® and Softball program is designed to develop superior
citizens rather than stellar athletes.

On the world stage, recognition comes to its pinnacle every August, as more than 130 Little
League Baseball and Softball games are televised worldwide on ABC and the ESPN family of
networks. However, reaching a World Series is only the end of a long and exciting journey that
showers timeless accolades on your league, community, region, state, territory, province and
country. For the millions of children who play in the regular season and for those who choose to
play “all-stars” but don’t reach a World Series, the moments and memories of Little League are
equally influential because of the people they meet along the way.
